Support for targeted communication activities to fight discrimination and stereotypes against the Roma population and support for voluntary initiatives promoting mutual learning and twinnings among local and regional public authorities on Roma integration across the European Union

The purpose of this project is to support targeted communication activities to fight discrimination and stereotypes against the Roma population and support for voluntary initiatives promoting mutual learning and twinnings among local and regional public authorities on Roma integration across the European Union with a focus on Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Romania, France, Germany, Hungary, Italy and Slovak Republic.
The project is composed of two main components: 1) Targeted communication activities and 2) Twinnings. Under component 1, three tasks are foreseen:
1.1 School drawing competition. The objective is to make children, teachers and parents aware of their own prejudices towards others, including Roma population.
1.2 Cultural, educational and athletic events. The objective is to develop at least three activities of a cultural, educational or athletic nature in at least three of the Twinning Authorities. Use Ambassadors from various backgrounds to act as role models.
1.3 Journalist’s Training. The objective is to present the situation of Roma in the country with data (Eurobarometer), what the EU and the national and local authorities are doing to improve it (EU Discrimination) to share projects with participants and answer their questions.
Under component 2, two main tasks are foreseen:
2.1 To develop at least 10 twinnings among local and regional authorities in Roma integration.
2.2 To coordinate and set up a network of the local and regional authorities undertaking the twinnings.
Target Countries: All EU Members States with special emphasis in Bulgaria, Czech Republic, Hungary, Romania and Slovakia (5 countries). Target Groups: i) at least 20 EU local authorities with Roma population; ii) schools and range of educational facilities; iii) journalists, editors, journalist federations. Final beneficiaries: the Roma community and neighbouring not non-Roma populations across Europe – special focus on 5 countries.
