Formulation of National Strategies for Maritime Security in Eastern, Southern African and Indian Ocean countries
The global objective of this study was to contribute to the elaboration of national maritime governance framework for each of the seven beneficiary countries in order to promote regional maritime cooperation and a stable maritime environment, as well as to contribute to peace, order and sustainable prosperity in the ESA-IO zone.
The specific objectives were
(a) Formulate national integrated maritime security strategies in countries of the ESA-IO region, in particular, Comoros, Djibouti, Kenya, Madagascar, Mauritius, Seychelles and Tanzania, which would be based on the regional Strategy on maritime security for the ESA-IO region.
(b) Harmonise the respective national maritime security strategies in countries of the ESA-IO region in line with the regional maritime security strategy.
