The specific objectives of the Mission were:
1) to assess and report to the European External Action Service (EEAS) and the European Commission (EC FPI) on the progress made in electoral reforms since the delivery of the final report of the 2013 EU EOM. The findings of the mission were shared with the European Parliament and Member States, and with the ECP and Pakistan authorities where appropriate. The mission focused its assessment on the implementation of the recommendations of the 2013 EU EOM and on the aligning of all elements of the electoral process to international standards and relevant national legislation of Pakistan;
2) in view of future elections, in particular the 2019 elections, advise on potential EU action(s) that could contribute to strengthening the implementation of the recommendations and/or to the overall improvement of the electoral framework.
