The overall objective of the project was to support the Government of Goergia in its efforts to strengthen the waste management sector as foreseen in the relevant provisions of the Association Agreement signed on the 27 June 2014.
The specific objective was to support the MENRP of Georgia in fulfilling the Transitional and Closing Provisions of the newly adopted Waste Management Code, in compliance with Annex XXVI of the Association Agreement and the approximation Roadmap for the sector.
The principal beneficiary was the Ministry of Environment and Natural Resources Protection of Georgia (MENRP). In addition, the assignment targeted all relevant stakeholders involved in the support to environment and particularly waste management system in Georgia, including other government bodies, the civil society, donors, and financial institutions and implementing agencies in these domains.
