The studies’ results and recommendations contributed to protecting and enhancing the value of the environmental capital of the DRC. This was achieved by implementing protection measures in priority areas, supporting the implementation of sustainable agriculture interventions that benefit local communities within these protected areas who saw their welfare improve and their incomes increase.
The specific objective of the mission was to assess the implementation of environment programmes related to the 10th EDF, and draft a series of framework documents, whose contents were drawn from that assessment and lessons learned, which allowed decision makers of the DRC and the EU not only to determine intervention strategies and overall goals but also to define intermediate objectives for the 11th EDF’s focal sector "Environment & Sustainable Agriculture" in the DRC
