Activity Background and Context: The European Union’s Deforestation Regulation (EUDR) is a crucial regulatory framework designed to combat deforestation by ensuring that products entering the EU market are not linked to deforestation or forest degradation. For India, a major exporter of products covered by the EUDR, aligning with these standards is vital for sustaining market access and ensuring compliance. In response, this joint EU-India initiative proposes a targeted innovation hackathon to develop strategies and solutions for meeting EUDR requirements, fostering collaboration between Indian and European stakeholders to enhance sustainable practices and regulatory compliance.

Role and responsibilities

  • Hackathon Coordination: Lead the planning and execution of an intensive innovation hackathon, mentoring cross-regional teams from India and Europe in the creation of eco-friendly product designs.
  • Mentorship and Resource Provision: Deliver expert mentorship to participants, facilitating access to critical design tools, comprehensive knowledge of EU regulations, and actionable insights to fast-track the innovation process.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Drive engagement and collaboration between Indian and European designers, engineers, and industry stakeholders, ensuring efficient knowledge transfer and collaborative development.
  • Comprehensive Reporting: Prepare detailed documentation of project outcomes, including hackathon assessments, award distributions, and strategic recommendations for subsequent commercialization phases.

Requirements

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of university studies in a related area
  • Proven excellent communication, coordination and high-level communication skills
  • Proven skills in international, interdisciplinary and intercultural management
  • Full proficiency in English and knowledge of other relevant Indian languages is an advantage
General Professional Experience
  • At least 5 years of relevant and proven full-time professional experience, including experience in outreach, communication, event management
  • Capacity to interact with high-level delegations
  • Professional experience in international communications, management and advisory roles, having worked in relevant fields for international/national institutions/companies and managed international networks
  • Professional experience in event management
  • Proven working experience in the management of interdisciplinary projects and teams, preferably for international organisations, and supervising the implementation of event management arrangements
Specific Professional Experience
  • Understanding of EU and India sectoral policy, institutional and business context and networks with knowledge partners, vendors, and other stakeholders in India is required.
  • Proven sectoral working experience in the development and implementation of international networks, strategies and instruments for stakeholder engagement, dissemination of knowledge, or equivalent
  • Proven working experience in comparable projects for the Services of the European Commission, including in the context of the EU-India cooperation framework, preferably in an overall project responsibility role
  • Direct experience in organising events of this level and in participant/invitation management
